Reflecting on the Week
I have some great news; Morgan and I officially have our confidence, over fences, back! If you read my last post, you’ll remember reading that we were both pretty anxious our first time jumping after the disaster of a horse show. Well, last Monday we jumped for the second time. We did an entire course set at 2’9″! I was a little freaked out at first, but after some much needed reassurance from my trainer, Morgan and I were flying over the jumps. He was absolutely amazing, and I think I did very well too. Morgan is kind of a funny pony to jump, over small fences he over jumps so much that sometimes he gets as high as 3’6″ which isn’t very easy to stay with. But when we jump fences at a decent height, like 2’9″, he only uses what energy is necessary, which means we’re actually jumping 2’9″ instead of something much higher. In short; the higher the jumps, the better we do. We had another lesson that week. This time a flat lesson. My trainer was absolutely in awe over how much Morgan has changed in the past two years that I’ve been riding him. She said that I deserve all of the credit for how great he is now, and that I took him from a nag to a show pony. I had to point out that in the past two years Morgan had taken me from a back yard rider, to an effective one. Of course my trainer had a lot to do with both of our success, but it was very nice to feel appreciated for all the hard work Morgan and I have done to improve ourselves.
In other news; yesterday, Morgan helped me babysit! One of the riders at my barn had asked if I could watch her daughter for her, for the day. We had a blast together at the barn riding ponies, and I even let her hop on Morgan. She had told me that she hadn’t ridden him in a couple of years, and when she did, she was terrified. She couldn’t believe what a different pony he was now! Morgan’s always had a reputation for being a bit of a scary pony amongst the little ones, so hearing her say he was “awesome now” completely made my day!

(In case you’re wondering what the first picture in this post is about; we’re getting mirrors put up in our indoor, and of course Morgan and I had to check out our reflections)

Are you going to Ocala to show at all in February?
No, but I sure wish we were! It’s freezing up here in SC! For February I think we’re going to stay in Aiken, but later in the year we’re actually going to be doing some shows we haven’t done yet, but those will be in NC. Maybe we’ll be ready for Florida in 2011. Hopefully!
